Recently I watched Johah Hill’s doco about his therapist and therapy on Netflix “Stutz”. It was interesting and full of useful strategies for life. One of those strategies is called Activating your Life Force and is the therapists starting point for those who come to him with depression. Essentially it is nurturing your relationship with your physical body (diet, sleep and exercise).

He explains that this is how you activate your life force and begin healing. This of course if what I do for a living but i have never heard it explained in that way.

Jonah said something along the lines of I wish I knew this when I was an overweight teenager, because his association with the words diet and exercise were all about punishment for being overweight, and the shame of needing to fix himself because he was wrong or broken in some way.

I think many of us have those kinds of negative associations which is one of the reasons why we don’t even try or sabotage our efforts to improve our health. What do you think? Can you relate?

So when you approach the idea of incorporating these strategies into your life, begin to let go of the old stories you have been telling yourself for years and think of it as activating your life force, because that is exactly what it is!
